Tableau allows you to add filters to the graph generated in your Sheet.
When you add a Sheet to the dashboard, you can still filter the Sheet by selecting the drop-down menu available in each Sheet.
For example, suppose you have a graph of Item
and Total Sales
as follows:
When you add the graph above to a Dashboard, you can add a Filter to the Sheet, and it will be reflected on the Dashboard.
Alternatively, you can also add a Filter from the Dashboard. To do so, you need to follow these steps:
- Click on the Sheet once on the dashboard
- Three small symbols will appear on the top-right side of the Sheet
- Click on the down arrow symbol (▼) for More Options.
- Select Filters > Item
Take a look at the screenshot below:
Once you complete the steps above, you should see a Filter pane on the right side of your graph as shown below:
Any filter change you did in the dashboard will be reflected on the Sheet view as well.
In this way, Tableau provides two ways to add filters to your graph: one from the Sheet tab, and the other on the Dashboard tab.
And that’s how you can add filters to a sheet from the dashboard. 😉
